Elsevier and Stanford University released a publicly available list of 2% of top-cited scientists in the world on 10 October 2022. We are delighted to see Maelgwyn`s Chief Research Officer, Dr. Ahmad Hassanzadeh on this list and congratulate him for this outstanding achievement. This category is based on the single recent year data pertain to citations received during the calendar year 2021. The list provides standardized information on citations, h-index, co-authorship adjusted hm-index, citations to papers in different authorship positions, and a composite indicator (c-score). Calculations were implemented using all Scopus author profiles as of September 1, 2022. Dr. Hassanzadeh published 43 peer-reviewed scientific articles and presented 20 proceeding conference papers in the last five years (2018-2022), holding an h-index of 17 based on the google scholar dataset. Over the last 10 years, Dr. Hassanzadeh has worked in very close cooperation with industry and academia. His area of interest is mainly related to pre-treatment methods (e.g., microwave and ultrasonication), comminution and classification, physical and physicochemical separation processes, simulation and modelling, flotation, hydrodynamics and kinetics, particle-bubble interaction, water treatment, and extractive metallurgy. He strongly believes that the mining and mineral processing sectors and relevant technologies should be revolutionized by including environmentally friendly, cost and time-effective, less-water-oriented, and innovative processes.
In Maelgwyn, Dr. Hassanzadeh introduces and develops our understanding of pneumatic flotation cells to significantly improve the selective separation of fine, ultrafine, and coarse particles. Together with his colleagues and key research partners across the world, they develop current technologies around ImhoflotTM flotation cells and the Aachen Shear Reactor and seek new applications, especially in wastewater treatment. He thinks that the mining industry needs such innovative solutions more than ever, particularly in this period of energy crises and high dependency on critical elements for modern technologies.
