Founded in 1997, Maelgwyn Mineral Services Ltd (MMS) is an expanding independent company that is leading the world in product and process innovation in the field of mineral processing and environmental technology. The company has patented technology in a number of areas including for froth flotation, gold leaching and mineral liberation.

MMS is based in Cardiff, Wales – Europe’s youngest capital city. The companies’ projects are world-wide, so overseas travel is the norm for company personnel.

THE ROLE

The role is to support the company’s equipment sales through progressing enquiries from first client contact to a final successful contract and then maintaining and building on these contracts. For our future growth plans we are looking for persons with process experience to join our team. 

PROCESS METALLURGIST-METALLURGICAL ENGINEER

MMS is seeing a significant demand for its products particularly the Aachen reactor used to improve gold cyanidation circuit recoveries and needs to expand its current team to service this demand. Responsibilities of these positions would include.

  • Responding to and progressing client enquiries to final sales
  • Co-ordination of laboratory and pilot scale testwork 
  • On site pilot scale test work
  • Commissioning and maintenance of equipment on site
  • Training and support of MMS international laboratory partners in Maelgwyn pilot scale test work to support full scale plant design.

REQUIREMENTS 

The full experience that these two positions ideally require includes: –

  • A BSc in Extractive Metallurgy, Process, Chemical Engineering, or Environmental Engineering
  • Minerals Processing Plant/Chemical plant practical experience
  • P.Eng. C. Eng. accreditation or working towards this
  • A background with gold plant, flotation or base metals operational experience would be an asset although not essential 
  • Good English written and verbal communication skills.
  • The position will require significant international travel. In addition, experience working in remote locations would be highly advantageous.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and execute cross-functional projects and initiatives through different levels and functions in the business.
  • Hold a valid driving licence.

For the position we offer a competitive remuneration package depending on experience and flexible working arrangements. 

The position will be based in the UK at MMS’s Cardiff based office where you will be required to relocate.
